Damien Rice

Damien Rice's music marked a new era in my music-listening habits. I got to know his music during a defining moment(s) of my life. Rice was introduced by someone I respect and felt blessed to get to know. Every time I hear his music, a part of me gets really sad. In particular, 'Eskimo' makes me sorry or nostalgic, and 'Women like a man' makes me laugh--both makes me remember moments when I heard those songs before. The tune of '9 Crimes' sounds like my time aboard and a lot of what it represented. Sometimes when I listen to Rice, I feel energized and feel like I can face anything in the future and that I'm in for a great life. Then sometimes when I listen to Rice, I feel the end of adventure and freedom and caught down by mediocrity and routine.
