"...I am here, and I know full well that I have to accept the prize of being allowed to live. Yes, as I look around me in this gentle dusk in this square on a storm-beaten yet full-of-thousands-of-promises street, I already begin to feel how readiness is growing, collecting inside me. I have to continue my uncontinuable life."
-Imre Kertész, "Fateless"

I recommend this book, it gives quite a different view on the Jewish deportation times. It is easy reading, pulling in the reader page by page, gives you something to ponder upon in the simple yet profound words. The last page is the best to me. I think there's something joyful and driving in the quote above.
